Determined to maintain the school’s reputation for scholastic excellence and to provide every child with facilities that encourage, not impede learning, several years ago the Board of Trustees and School Director Kathleen B. Craven began to plan for a comprehensive, multimillion-dollar fund raising campaign to build a state-of-the-art educational center as well as to increase the amount of funds available for tuition aid.

Several studies comparing the cost of renovation vs. new construction documented that the cost of renovating the current school would be only slightly less than constructing an entirely new, state-of-the-art school. While that minimum difference was a consideration, the Board also chose to build a new school because of the almost indescribable disruption to the children, faculty and the educational process by having almost two years of heavy demolition and renovations occurring in the same building where classes were being held.
