Pilot’s school nurse provides health care to our student community and promotes a healthy school environment by administering ongoing health appraisals. By maintaining a baseline knowledge of the students through up-to-date health records, medication use history, and any special needs concerns, the school nurse is best able to assume responsibility for the care of the sick and injured child. Effective communication with the student, parent/guardian, and school personnel is a key in providing good health services. The school nurse serves as a resource person regarding individual illnesses, communicable diseases, and any other health concerns. She also serves as a liaison between school personnel, family, community, and health care providers.
Pilot’s nurse maintains a current State of Delaware nursing license that requires continuing education credits on a biannual basis.
